Health: Men, Your Health Matters Too.
Topics surrounding health and wellness seem to be all around us in the news, in publications and all over the internet these days. Many health trends are focused on healthy living and disease prevention, but sadly the information is mostly geared to and received by women. Men are largely left out for one reason or another. This is even more troubling given the fact that, men’s health issues and diseases can be deadlier than women. In addition to this, like women, most common chronic diseases in men are preventable.
Among chronic diseases and its’ devastating effects, heart disease tops the list. It is the #1 killer of men in the U.S. according to the CDC. Risk factors include smoking, hypertension, and high cholesterol. Cancers are also a major culprit, with prostate cancer being the most common, but lung cancer the most fatal. Lastly, injuries from physical activities and mishaps top the list with trauma related injuries such as fractures and violent injuries.
Just like their female counterparts, men are advised to get their routine medical exams and always stay compliant in medications and follow up treatments. Men, be proactive about your health and make it your priority. We need you and your health matters too.
